PSYCHOTHERAPY AND CONSULTATION

Individual Psychotherapy

I provide individual insight-oriented psychotherapy for teens and adults. I utilize a primarily psychodynamic approach that focuses on increasing understanding of core underlying conflicts and patterns and promoting insight and resilience through the therapeutic relationship. Spouse or family involvement in treatment may be used as an adjunct to therapy if collaboratively agreed upon.

Consultation Services to Mental Health Providers

I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of personality disorders, impairments in interpersonal functioning, and suicidal and self-harming behaviors. I offer individualized consultation services aimed at increasing knowledge and awareness of these areas to clinicians and individuals working in other community or treatment settings.

PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

Initial Psychological Assessment Consultation

The assessment process begins with an initial meeting in which your concerns are discussed and we review a detailed history of the issues, in order to help determine whether or not testing seems appropriate for your situation. If it does not seem to be appropriate, I will provide you with referrals to other professionals who will be able to help you with the kind of treatment/intervention that is necessary.

Personality and Interpersonal Functioning Assessment

Completion of a personality and interpersonal functioning assessment includes administration of broadband personality measures (PAI-2, MMPI-2, PID-5) and projective measures (Rorschach, Thematic Apperception Test). You will receive a test report describing relevant background history, scores, interpretation, and treatment recommendations, and attend a feedback session with me to review and discuss findings.

General Psychological/Diagnostic Evaluation

A general psychiatric diagnostic evaluation involves an assessment of general cognitive functioning, personality testing, behavior scales (if relevant), and a review of past records and contact with other providers (after obtaining your permission) as needed. Measures are personalized for each assessment depending on the referral question. A detailed test report that includes background information, symptom reporting, interpretation, recommendations, and diagnosis (if applicable) is provided and you will attend a feedback session with me to review findings and to discuss recommendations.
